[OSM-newbies] How stable is Potlach? [was Potlatch & cycleways]

OK...

I have a ways that have disappeared on me. They were definitely they 
yesterday in the Mapnik render. Today, gone. They're not showing up in 
red when I press U.
In their place are a scattering of untagged points supposedly created 
back in Aug. '06. They were definitely NOT there yesterday.

Any ideas what is going on?
