I add more stiles than most people - I think! I understand the different
types but have not - until now - recorded or mapped them separately. I would
suggest: type 1 (noting that the British Standard actually demands two foot
planks, not just one, as well as a hand post to aid balance) needs no
additional tagging; type 2 could benefit from a tag dog=yes; type 3 could be
stile=ladder (as they are usually known as ladder stiles). Inevitably there
are other types, e.g. steps in a wall (either lateral or in the direction of
travel), metal ladders (usually ex British Rail near railways or former
railways), etc.
