[OSM-newbies] How do you see the history of changes to an area of the map?

Hi,

I think I would find it interesting to see who has edited particular 
regions of the map that I'm interested in.

If I zoom-in to an area of interest and then select the history tab I 
see loads of changes but all of them (except for mine) cover huge areas 
of the map and the Area column of the history table has '(big)' appended 
to the area.  Is there a way to see only those changes that only 
affected the area I am looking at?

For example if I view Wilton [1] and then click the history tab you can 
see my local changes are swamped by these much larger changes which 
makes looking for other users interested in the same area difficult.
