The discussion shouldn't come to this list. Only a part of the contributors
read the ML and even less are participating. The consensus is visible
through the statistics and what is on the map. It' s clear today that the
vast majority of the contributors follows Richard's method.
What Dave is doing is not wrong but does not bring much more information
and, as you said, is still an abstraction of the reality.
