[OSM-newbies] Separating Streets

Click on a way so that all of it is highlighted.
Click on the red node you want to at so that just that node is highlighted.
press 'x' on your keyboard or use the scissors icon.

If the way does not have a node at the place you want to split, you can 
create one:

Again, click on the way to highlight it.
With the shift button held down click on the way at the location for the 
new node.
