Ah, so you have moved the coastline 'outwards' and put objects on the new land 
you have created.  The problem is that whilst roads, POIs and other objects 
are redrawn pretty quickly, the coastline is redrawn only periodically.  It 
will be a short while before the map looks right again.

If you select the 'Data' overlay on the OSM webpage mapviewer (click the + 
sign at the top right edge of the map) you can reassure yourself that your 
objects and new coastline are in the database (they will be drawn as gray 
lines and green dots).

Don't worry.  The new features you have placed won't sink!
