i) could you not use say Inkscape to create a png from the SVG file
ii) save the png to your computer
iii) change the rules file to point to the icon for a florist?

  I'm playing with Maperitive and trying to get a POI of florist to show.  Unfortuntely it isn't in the list of symbols at http://svn.openstreetmap.org/applications/rendering/mapnik/symbols which is where Maperitive picks up its symbols from.  JOSM has a nice flower icon that looks fine, where can I find a florist symbol that Maperitive can use?

  For example http://svn.openstreetmap.org/applications/share/map-icons/svg/shopping/florist.svg
