[OSM-newbies] Headland, cape, etc

I would appreicate some guidance on how to tag geographic features that have
names like XXX Cape, YYY Point ZZZ Headland, etc. That is, prominent bits of
land that stick out into the ocean.

I have spent quite a bit on time looking at tagging guidelines but am more,
rather than less, confused.

It seems that natural=peninsula got voted down and the page for
place=locality lists a lot of examples that don't fit that tag. I considered
natural=cliff but that won't fit some instances and natural=peak which
applies to "The top (summit) of a hill or mountain." is misleading,
especially when the cape is at the downhill end of a slope.

I also searched the globe for examples that I knew of. All that did was
throw up oddities so the well known Cape of Good Hope in South Africa is
tagged tourism=attraction.

Help please!
