Ok. Having looked into it, it's basically an issue with clicking 'edit' by a
track that hasn't been loaded into the OSM database yet (i.e. one that says
PENDING). In this case, the Rails site code won't have figured out what the
start lat/long of the track is, so it won't pass anything through to P2, and
P2 will therefore default to its arbitrary start location.
At some point in the future I'll look into retrofitting P1's ability to find
the start point itself if Rails doesn't supply one (it won't be trivial
though). In the meantime, the easiest thing to do is to start editing at the
place you want to edit (by getting there with the slippy map then clicking
Edit), then use the 'My tracks' dialogue (on P2's GPS Data menu) to load the
track you want.
