[OSM-newbies] Where to start development using OSM

Hello,
I have done few mapping and editing of few points in OSM but what I am
truly into is development. I have developed a web interface using google
map then I came to know about OSM and after knowing all the good facts
about OSM I would like to start developing an web based app and also an
android app using open street map to both get locations data and also to
show map. I have been searching over the web but I am kind of lost and
can't seem to find a good documentation/ resources to start development.
Was searching for tutorial/resources like I found plenty on google maps.
Can anyone here help me find the right place please?
