[OSM-newbies] How Do I Handle Outdated Data?

Thanks. Now I'm wondering about a related issue: if I delete this node  
(which was part of a GNIS import) and a couple of years from now someone  
imports GNIS data again to pick up its updates, will we then see the old  
data in the map again? Are these mass imports a one-time-only event? If  
not, is there a mechanism to propagate our changes back to the data source?
