John,

I found a key road_marker in the OSM wiki that seems to fit my need with a value of sharrow.

Do you (or anyone else on the list) have any experience with uMap? Comments?

Thanks for all your help.

For your own purposes recording use JOSM, Maperitive will do the job but getting a custom set of rules drawn up is not simple to do. If you get desperate I could probably add something to an existing rule set, email me directly if you require that assistance, its been a month or two since I played with maperitive.

JOSM shows everything but isn't the most user friendly interface for nontechnical users, I'm not quite sure why you want to map the precise place where the marker appears.
