Hi Frederick,
Henk and the SOTM team are putting together feedback forms. We should have had them ready for the conference - next year we'll do better.
I think I agree with your points. That's why its important for the community / whoever is interested, to give their opinions on what they want the conference to be. The conference is a big source of OSM-F's revenue - that's a nice side effect but in my opinion its not what its about. Its about such awesomely bizarre events as the singing competition that you simply can't plan. SOTM needs to be a forum for those things, and I see the role of the SOTM committee as helping make them happen. We're now etching up a fair bit of conference organising experience between the various organisers of SOTMs over the last 4 years - we have a good idea of what works, what doesn't work, what's needded to make a successful conference. Another role of the organising committee is to make sure the lessons learned in previous years are passed on.
What did you think of the size / character? It was interesting for me to hear the feedback from some of the CloudMade guys who were at Limerick but not at last year's conf. They really noticed the change from very grass routes, home-brew, to something with a more professional feel. Of course there are pros and cons to this. Pros: awesome venue, professional help to set things up, change slides round, record talks. Cons: did not feel quite as much of a community as in Limerick or Manchester.

Business day yes or no? Hack day yes or no? More outreach? More technical? More exclusive? More inclusive? Two days, three days, four days?
