Hi Jonathan,
I disagree with both sentiments, however, the first bit about discounting at SoTM I'll leave to the local committee and those with more power on these matters.
As for a membership based on edits, this discounts those that have worked on the wiki, server and other elements of our wider community. These elements are much harder to quantify in terms of effort and contribution, however, are vital to drive the editing of the map.
