Hello Maurizio,
Thank you! Inserting the OSM map for the CICG building in Geneva on the
http://okcon.org/ website could be a very positive first step.
After this we could, say, propose to organize via SOSM.ch a mapping
party of Geneva by the experienced mappers from the whole Switzerland.
There are several important specialized UN agencies in Geneva such as
World Health Organization (WHO), World Trade Organization (WTO) ,
International Labour Organization (ILO), International Telecommunication
Union (ITU), and some others.
Besides, the International Committee of the Red Cross headquarters, The
Union of European Football Associations (UEFA), International Olympic
Committee (IOC), and many others are based in Geneva area.
Hundreds of thousands influential visitors come to Geneva each year on
business, not only from 20 industrial countries, but from all 195
countries of the world. And they should see in Geneva what the OSM map
could be.
More often than not a cause of a disagreement in some remote parts could
be archaic or nonexistent mapping and zoning tools. The same plot of
land or even a building may "belong" to several different owners with
too predictable outcome.
The OSM is the unique, 21st century-grade tool, which could be used to
map properly any country right now by local resources and reduce the
misery at its source.
In my opinion, the OSM map of Geneva should be an example in this
respect. I hope the http://okcon.org/ would give it an exposure too.
brgds,
Oleksiy
