In fact I'm taking the rather un-German approach to first get a budget
in place and then think about a process later, or in coding terms, I'm
applying the "agile budgeting" technique ;)

I welcome any discussion about this on this list. I assume that the
board will also discuss broader strategy and budgeting issues at a F2F
meeting in spring and that would be a good time to look further ahead.

For the time being, I'm a fan of Mike Collinson's recent ideas of
making contribution, even in small amounts, easier and perhaps less
formal. Figuratively speaking, I'm not looking for a group to engineer
the heating system for the next century, I'm happy if someone shows up
and helps me chop some wood next weekend.

I'll be in touch with Milo and ask if he likes chopping wood.
