A very effective measure against most types of vote rigging is simply
making votes public.
If we publish a list that says who voted for what, anybody can easily
check whether their vote was correctly recorded, and nobody has to trust
sinister OSMF officials to count the votes because everybody can count
them themselves.
Of course there are downsides to it but it's not like you have to fear a
visit from the secret police if you vote for the wrong OSMF board candidate.
In fact Andrew who runs the HOT mumble server told me that they were
either already doing, or planning to do, votes by simply providing
"rooms" for each available choice, and during a meeting where there's a
vote, people would "move" into the room they want to vote for - maybe
someone else knows the full story about that but it is certainly not a
secret ballot and frankly I don't see why we would need to have a secret
ballot in OSMF.
Bye
Frederik
