 From last years analysis:

In fact it was roughly the same situation as this time, not that different.

I don't know what the designers of STV had in mind, but in our election 
circumstances a large surplus is quite uncommon.

I still would strongly suggest to tell the voters that mostly the 
highest ranked sucessful canidate matters and ranking is not even close 
to clustering or multiple votes.
