Thanks, this makes things a bit clearer.

But i really think this field could use a bit more transparency w.r.t. 
spendings overall.  It is the biggest single item in the budget outside 
the OWG after all.  It would be good to know for example how much of 
the money goes to pay law firm services and how much is going into 
trademark registration fees.

Ultimately there will need to be decisions made on the scope of 
trademark registration (both geographic and semantic, i.e. what to 
register beyond the basic 'OpenStreetMap').  Even if such decisions are 
made by the board and LWG the members will ultimately also need 
sufficient information to assess those matters and the decisions made.
