[Osmf-talk] Joining OSMF - welcome pack suggestion

Dear OSMF board
I was so enthused by the Brussels events that I joined the foundation, but other than an initial email confirming my payment, have had nothing.
I’m sure there are many others in the same situation, which seems like a bit of a lost opportunity given all the talk about wanting people to get more involved..
In my opinion it would be a good idea to send out an (electronic) welcome pack to new members with a bit more background information about the foundation, its working groups, how you can get more involved, etc..
Best wishes
Janet

Hi Janet- this is probably great feedback to share with the osmf board. HOT is a separate charity. Do agree more member interaction would be nice although osmf is completely volunteer run so there is limited capacity.

Thanks, Tyler, that’s what I thought.
I don’t know if you have much to do with the running of the OSM Foundation. I was so enthused by the Brussels events that I joined, but other than an intial email confirming my payment, have had nothing.

Hi Janet, thanks very much for the links.
The fundraising component of the position is a big one. We expect most of this will take place working with corporations in the US since a) we are registered in the US and b) most of our existing donor base is in the US and c) British Red Cross and others are already covering most Missing Maps corporate relationships in the UK. I would expect 75% US corporate and university work and 25% europe.
Hope that helps with the decision.
Tyler

Dear Tyler
I hope you are well. In Brussels you mentioned using pictures of the FGM mapping project in your presentations. You are more than welcome to use anything from the presentation any way you like – presentation is here http://bit.ly/FGMSOTM
Also there are a few photos here https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/0B8Qi8bGfITFES0loSlF2SzdaVVE?usp=sharing if you’d like more please let me know and I’ll try to get them when I’m out in December.
I also saw with interest the posting about the Community Partnerships Manager. How much US travel would there be for this please and how much of a disadvantage would it be for an applicant to be from London?
Many thanks
Janet
