Thanks. This is a good step forward - i remember suggesting something
similar with the corporate donations subject some time ago (discussing
general policy rather than specific cases) and it is good to see you
consider this approach.
But w.r.t. general policy with local chapters i would suggest to
consider publicity of the whole process being an important criterion
for local chapter applications and that organizations which apply or
even just inquire but which insist on confidentiality of the fact they
do so are ineligible.

This is an important point, in particular also in case an existing local
chapter might shift its focus away from the local community and other
organizations become the prevailing way in which mappers organize
themselves. In case of organizations that have a broader scope there
is also the matter of possible conflicts of interest.
I agree with Michael that this is a subject where a broader discussion
based on written ideas and suggestions is probably a better starting
point than some ad hoc idea collection at a meeting.
