Thank you so much for trying to come back to my original questions.

I hope to hit the bull's eye "in layman's terms ..."

The proposal to reform the EU copyright was originally suggested by
Günther Oettinger a while ago when he was the EU Digital Commissioner.
The EU’s controversial reform, that might introduce upload filters,
ancillary copyright, and has only a very narrow exception for text and
data mining, has passed a key hurdle after the majority of members of
the EU parliament voted in favor of an only slightly changed proposal
last Wednesday.

The new copyright law still needs parliamentary approval before becoming
law. By passing the draft, the EU parliament opens negotiations with the
European Council and the European Commission. If, as currently expected
by the lawmakers, that this version of the law will be approved by all
three EU bodies, it could be ready for a final vote by the end of the year.

If you would like to get closer to the matter, then I recommend you the

Imho -
When politicians act and it concerns us as a project, then the OSMF is
called upon to act. The OSMF cannot then talk its way out of not making
political statements.

For example, I would expect at least a press release to be published so
that parliamentarians can see that Article 13 concerns OSM and that we
do not agree at all with the current wording.

HTH

cheers

Manfred
