Internet was so slow in Ashgabat that I never bothered to try, and since returning home, the resettlement process and repair of our neglected house have combined to keep me busier than expected and will through the end of this calendar year. It's too late for that this year, but next year I'll definitely add that
to the "questions to candidates" - whether they have listened in to
board meetings, and if not, why not. Perhaps there's something we can
improve in the way we run board meetings. I'm thinking: If someone
cannot be bothered to join a board meeting as a guest - say, because
it's too boring or too heated or too long or whatever - then that
reluctance is unlikely to immediately go away once they're elected. So
you find yourself running a board meeting that consists of lots of
people who'd rather do something else than be on a board meeting. Surely
that is not ideal...
