In 2014, several massive tech companies (Apple, Google and Intel etc.) settled a court case for $300+ million. They had all (illegally) agreed not to try to hire each others staff, which limits their staffs' job prospects, and reduces their salary options.

Google CEO Eric Schmidt advised his HR people not to write down this illegal "no poach" deal, because that might create a paper trail.

He wrote this in an email.

There's plenty of dummies out there, so why not try to catch them? Don't let perfect be the enemy of done.
