[Osmf-talk] which companies or interest groups are unacceptable? was Africa as a training ground

The issue is not who but why are they acceptable or not.

When MapBox creates a silo (when you want to correct OSM data you are
not directed to OSM editors but to MapBox environment), it's not better
than when HOT does the same.

When FB who is using OSM data adds opening hours or contact information
on user pages without improving the OSM database (ODbL) I see also an issue.

The issue is not (or not only) with HOT but much more the way HOT (and
others) are interacting with the OSM community.

I think the request of Bert "Local chapter board or leaders should not
be affiliated with any financiers or specific interest groups. No
Facebook, no MapBox, no Apple, no Google, no TomTom etc... NO HOT." is
more not to have a conflict of interest.

As for me I have no problem having such "Local chapter board or leaders"
but /only/ if I'm sure they won't take part to issues where they have a CoI.
