I too wish there were more candidates, but I'm not convinced that keeping nominations open for a week would change things right now.

Yes. We are bound by the UK Companies Act for certain things about AGMs. But that doesn't require us to have the (long) board election process that we currently have. IIRC it's not in the AoA. However, I think people have an expectation, and I don't like changing that.
