OSM Wiki should not be treated as authoritative and ruling over OSM project.

Tagging is documented there, but it describes how tags are used rather than
ruling and mandating (see https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Any_tags_you_like )

Wiki attempts to describe various common practices, used tags.

So it is worth investigating situation, maybe following linked discussions
if you disagree with something recommended there. And typically description
at OSM Wiki is correct.

But OSM Wiki has many mistakes, missing info, outdated pages,
heavily outdated translations, completely missing translations,
pages written by people who documented their preferences rather than common tagging...

Help with improvements is highly welcome!

At the same time documentation gathered here is often useful overview or at least good starting point.

Again, edits making it even better are highly welcome!
