Comment:

 I'm seeing exactly the same issue - I can't shift-click to add nodes to
 existing ways, but can add new ways and move nodes fine.  I've seen this
 for a few weeks, i.e. since around the time of the front page redesign. I
 am using Chrome on a Mac and the latest version of FP. I've been getting
 around it by deleting ways and adding new ones in with my desired extra
 nodes, but this is obviously not ideal!
