Sprites just means that it is storing all the images used in a single
image file and chopping it up client side to optimised load times.

We can easily give it some transparency, though we should change the
layer selector as well if we do.

Well the big improvement to my mind it making it match the style of the
new layer selector and generally fit in better with the style of the
site - the blue at the moment is very bold and looks out of place with
all the other recent changes.
