of "hidden" knowledge. I'd say this is to be expected in most open
source projects whether it's good or bad...
It would be nice to have everything nicely documented and served on a
silver platter for new contributors (like me) but it's just not the way
it is. It's not THAT bad, either - any competent (and persistent...)
person can get up to speed in some specific area in a matter of weeks
which I guess is not bad in a project this size.

My personal opinion is that tickets are some form of documentation
(sometimes the only existing documentation...) and I always welcome
"good" tickets - containing reasonable requests, with a sensible
discussion for future reference etc.
