Comment (by Richard):

 Although it's perfectly clear in British English, it's possible that the
 word isn't clear in other languages (such as French or the bizarre
 perversion that is sometimes known as American "English"). In which case
 you can of course use OSM's existing translation mechanisms to substitute
 a word or phrase which is more understandable in your language. That is
 kind of the point of the translation system.
