As I explained before, there's no technical need for it, given that we have working Google and Facebook methods. Google themselves recommend a method using "in-app tabs" which doesn't require any server-side changes.

Why should there be a case made for adding an extra authentication type? We added wikimedia recently without any technical need for it. I doubt there is one OSM member with wikimedia account and without an account on any other social services we had supported before.

Even if maps.me authentication type gave nothing new to OSM, this is still not a good reason to reject the pull request. It breaks nothing in OSM, and it allows more users to sign in with their preferred method.

I already explained why maps.me cannot use in-app tabs. They require a newer version of android than we support. Vespucci editor, for example, supports "all Android versions since 2.2" — not with in-app tabs, then require 4.1. And I doubt that browser-based authorization will have login and password pre-filled from the system auth module. Native authentication would be the best option for any mobile editor.

Nope, when I tried to push exactly that, nobody in osmf working groups supported it. I've got a couple of "how can I help" calls from commercial companies, but in osmf it was all talk and maybes. You must remember all these emails a year ago.
