[openstreetmap/openstreetmap-website] Change low zoom projection from Mercator to Globe/Sphere (#2604)

So we would need two pre-requisites for this:

* Either support in Leaflet, or moving away from Leaflet to another map library that supports lowzoom globe views.
* Support for lowzoom globe views on every map layer, or a mechanism to switch back and forward depending on whether the layer supports it.

Both of these are significant challenges! And neither of them are within the remit of this development team. 

So while I support your feature request, until at least the first pre-requisite is solved, there's nothing that can be done here. So as such, I'm going to close this issue.
