Well the problem is that https://www.openstreetmap.org/edit is not really iD as such, it is out wrapper around iD. The actual iD is at https://www.openstreetmap.org/id and that would expect a URL for the `gpx` parameter but we frame that using `/edit` in order to fill in the OAuth credentials and coerce the gpx parameter to work the consistently across the different editors and with our historical behaviour.
