Well I mostly work on the basis that people that do follow the instructions and contact support are likely to be genuine rather than spammers/trouble makers and if nothing else it gives us the chance to assess what they're saying and ask further questions if we have any concerns.

Nobody wants to to do these things but sometimes people leave us with no option.
