We rely on the OpenStreetMap logo and wordmark for navigation, not just for site identification: https://github.com/openstreetmap/openstreetmap-website/issues/6506#issuecomment-3634562294. And placeholder text in a search box isn’t good enough site identification, because we don’t have the brand recognition of Google.
