I get that. I'm open to dropping this issue too. do know, I feel lots of co-ownership for valhalla, I'll be the one supporting this if no one else (and @chrstnbwnkl is probably too). it's sadly what valhalla needs, it's just a different architecture than usual, the preferences are provided by the user, not by the router. and IMO that's _exactly_ how routing should be. it's also what everyone strives for! but can't, because their architecture doesn't allow for it. they rather go for the performance benefit of (mostly) pre-baked preferences. of course GH (and to some point OSRM MLD) is an exception, but last I checked their "flexible" mode is slow (though even more flexible than Valhalla). sorry for the digression, felt relevant.

no, I didn't actually say yet how I'd handle it. what I said was

and I mean it. this will take one of us maintainers to solve. and it'll take a bit of time.
