Not sure about the reasons why you want to create that application, but 
if you do because you couldn't find one then please have a look at:

I'm currently working on integrating driving directions among other 
things. YOURS will be uploaded to the OSM SVN repository after that.

If you want to make your own site then you should know that the sheer 
amount of data available for North America is making it especially a 
challenge to provide reasonable routing. You could implement the YOURS 
routing API to get up to speed quickly and be able to focus on website 
development.
