you find something that is not yet documented on the wiki and ask on
the mailing list. If you propose something, discuss it on the mailing
list.

You can also simply use a tag. Dependant how particular the thing
you're mapping is, you might conflict with others doing the same.
That's why I think it's a good idea to speak about it before using a
tag.
