[Tagging] Mapping historic ruins

Hi ,
Today I went to map a small fort which more or less is in ruins thanks
to negligence by govt and environmental damage. I would like to call
the small POI's inside it as ruins . But it seems ruins tag is not
being rendered by mapnik . cloudmade's mapzen did show that option so
did JOSM but mapnik didn't ( seems deja vu for many tags )

Does Not_being_rendered_mapnik has got anything to do with this
article saying its controversial ?
