I was thinking about this and indeed a normal gate swings. I guess by
"normal gate" we both intend something like this:

You find this type of gate in many places - basically it is a urban
type of gate that is not intended against pedestrians but only against
cars.

I'd really prefer to have 2 different types because it is completely
different function and construction, and just the turning mechanism is
in common:
