Haberdashery is a shop, or a section of a department store selling
sewing supplies such as buttons, zips and the like. Nothing whatever to
do with bags or luggage.
I first heard the words in the opening to are you being served.

Luggage would be better, it is the word used by Yellow Pages. Bags will
bring up carrier bag suppliers, which is the thing that when through my
mind when reading the first email in this thread.
