According to the ACE website, they are actually an coop.

But also a franchise.

I'd suggest franchise=Ace Hardware Corporation. The same with many fast
food restaurants. It might be a McD franchise, but the operator is Bad, But
Taste Foods. (OK, I made that last one up.) But often a group of stores is
operated by one company.
