If someone changes the meaning of a wiki page – especially without
explaining themselves via talk page or edit comment –, I would suggest
to just revert it. If they still feel the page needs to be changed, it
is up to them to come forward and start a discussion. I believe
Wikipedia calls this "Bold(ly edit), revert, discuss".
Of course it is always a good thing to talk to the user, and the
diplomatic approach usually yields better results. In some situations,
such as with inexperienced editors, this is especially important.
Nevertheless, I feel it must not be disproportionately harder to prevent
unilateral disruptive edits than it is to perform them, so whatever you
do: If you don't reach a consensus, don't feel bad for reverting.
