typically there are 3 entities that can appear on your receipt / be used in
osm tagging:
operator - this is required on the receipt, it is the company that issues
the receipt
brand - this might additionally appear on the receipt, in case of a petrol
station this is usually an oil company
name - this might also appear on the receipt, it is the name of the single
instance
in some cases the Oil company does operate the petrol station itself, in
these cases Operator and Brand might be similar (I'm usually adding the
corporate form to the operator value, but won't typically do it for brand
(i.e. unless it is part of the well known brand name)).
