There are 25,000 of the things out there - it's not exactly some niche

I've used "foot" in the UK for routes that aren't really "hiking" (but 
aren't necessarily city walking tours either).  People choose whatever 
"seems best to them" at the time, and the usage of "foot" seems to 
suggest that a lot of people think that it is appropriate.
