[Tagging] List v Forum - was Accepted or rejected?

I started out on the forum but got no answers or feedback. Actually, not quite true, the feedback was that all the traffic was on the mailing list and I needed to join it. So I think it is a matter of critical mass rather than if one is better or worse than the other.
