yes, washing is also very important even if the water is not potable, as is watering the garden in the outdoor, fully agree, not to forget engine cooling, especially in the outdoor. And refilling the water for the windshield wipers of course, it can be a lifesaver to have a clean windshield under some conditions. 

Still, I wouldn’t consider these sufficiently important to merit rendering of every water tap on osm carto, especially as water taps aren’t particularly rare in gardens or at petrol stations.
