I've personally seen road signs that say you are crossing the Great
Dividing Range.

Lots of articles talk about & map it.

Don't these things all make it verifiable?

What would be the problem of more-or-less duplicating that in OSM & calling
it the Great Dividing Range. No, it's not what I'd call accurate, but it
tells you that there are lumpy bits in that area! :-)
