Maybe there is a fundamental difference in the expectations of what a town
square constitutes, e.g. in English as compared to German or Italian? From
my understanding, a square is about a spatial configuration, but it does
not imply any specific function and does not exclude that there is a car
park or bus station _on_ the square.
